White chalice linen set with gold IHS Christogram embroidery — a monogram representing the name of Jesus (from the Greek ΙΗΣΟΥΣ and traditionally interpreted as “Jesus Hominum Salvator,” meaning “Jesus, Savior of Mankind”). The central motif on the pall is a large IHS monogram with a cross above the letter H and radiant star motifs on both sides. The same design is repeated on a smaller scale on the other pieces in the set.
Materials and Embroidery
The pall is made of polyester fabric with a stain-resistant finish. Its edges are decorated with scalloped white embroidery that complements the embroidered Christogram. One corner of the pall is reinforced with a stiffening insert, making it easier to lift without touching the embroidery.
The corporal is made from the same stain-resistant polyester fabric and finished with scalloped white embroidered edging.
The purificator and lavabo towel are made of cotton fabric and finished with matching scalloped white embroidery.
Four-Piece Chalice Linen Set
Pall (6.7 × 6.7 in) — white polyester pall featuring a large embroidered IHS Christogram topped with a cross and surrounded by radiant star motifs. Stain-resistant finish and reinforced corner. Used to cover the chalice during the liturgy.
Corporal (18.5 × 18.5 in) — white polyester corporal featuring IHS embroidery in the corners and finished with scalloped white embroidered edging. Stain-resistant finish. Placed on the altar beneath the chalice and paten.
Purificator (approx. 18.5 × 9.4 in) — white cotton purificator with IHS embroidery and scalloped white embroidered edging. Used to wipe and dry the chalice and paten during the liturgy.
Lavabo Towel (approx. 18.5 × 9.4 in) — white cotton towel with IHS embroidery and scalloped white embroidered edging. Used to dry the celebrant’s hands during the lavabo rite.
Versatile White Chalice Linens
In the Roman Rite, white is used for celebrations of the Lord, including Christmas, Easter, Epiphany, and the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, as well as feasts of the Blessed Virgin Mary, saints who were not martyrs, and Sundays during the Easter and Christmas seasons.
Because the IHS Christogram is a universal symbol of the name of Jesus rather than a motif associated with one particular feast, this set is suitable for a wide range of celebrations in which white vestments and liturgical textiles are used, including weddings, First Masses, and priestly jubilees.
Packaged in a presentation box with a clear window.
