Church lectern cover embroidery and motifs
At the center of the design, an embroidered chalice is shown with altar bread bearing the IHS monogram. This image refers directly to the Eucharist and Christ's Sacrifice, including Christ's presence under the forms of bread and wine. The IHS monogram is one of the best-known Christological symbols. It underscores the special significance of the Most Holy Name of Jesus.
Vine branches, leaves and clusters of grapes surround this central image. These elements have been part of Christian symbolism for centuries. Grapes refer to Eucharistic wine and the Blood of Christ. The vine recalls the unity of the faithful with Christ.
Gold embroidery gives the composition an elegant, solemn and noble character. The decorative arrangement has a dignified, sacred appearance and contrasts with the light fabric background.
Liturgical occasions and setting
As a piece of liturgical furnishing, the cover emphasizes the sacred character of the place where the Word of God is proclaimed. It also complements the decor of the presbytery.
Its format suits most standard lecterns, pulpits and liturgical stands. It is particularly suitable for solemn Eucharistic celebrations and services, including the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, Corpus Christi, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, votive Masses of the Most Holy Eucharist, and celebrations connected with First Holy Communion.
The white liturgical color also supports use during Christmas and Easter, Feasts of the Lord, and other solemn liturgical celebrations. This liturgical designation represents purity, holiness, joy and glory. It also expresses the solemn character of the liturgy and makes the cover suitable for the most important seasons of the liturgical year.
